Azureus представляет собой bittorrent-клиент, базирующийся на Java, позволяющий осуществлять множественные потоковые загрузки.
Среди его возможностей стоит отметить:
- определение скоростных ограничений на закачку/скачку как для одного потока, так и для всех одновременно; продвинутые правила отбора;

- использует только один порт для всех потоков;
- возможность использования прокси для Tracker и Peer коммуникаций;

- широкие возможности по определению директорий, куда сохраняются скачиваемые файлы и куда они перемещаются после завершения скачки; удобный интуитивный настраиваемый пользовательский интерфейс;
- IRC плагин для быстрой помощи;
- мощная система организации доступа к файлам;
- многочисленные плагины, призванные существенно облегчить индивидуальную настройку утилиты.
Azureus предназначен для работы под управлением операционных систем Windows 98/98SE/Me/NT4.0/2000/XP/, Mac, Linux.
